Qatar Airways was developed under the supervision of the Group chief Executive. Mr. Akbar Al Baker was appointed in 1997, who has been playing a vital role in turning Qatar Airways into a world’s best and award winning airline.
Since 2014, Qatar Airways has been fully owned by the Qatari Government. There are many divisions of the group such as Doha International Airport, Qatar Duty-Free and Qatar Holidays. Qatar Airways Cargo is the third largest cargo carrier in the world. The airline made a proposal for a Saudi Arabia-based airline, Al Maha Airways, which would be fully owned by Qatar Airways.
